Supporting Regional Cooperation on Electric-Gas Coordination

The Oregon Department of Energy is a member of a regional planning organization, the Western Interconnection Regional Advisory Body. As part of its planning process, members recently voted on priorities for the coming year. ODOE supported regional cooperation on electric-gas coordination as a priority, along with initiatives focusing on effects of changing weather patterns and large loads on regional planning and reliability. Through this regional forum, ODOE will engage with other state energy offices and regulators to inform the Western Electricity Coordinating Council’s assessment on gas-electric interdependency and participate in discussions about potential actions to strengthen reliability planning and coordination.
